Shagufta K. Iqbal is a TEDx speaker and award-winning poet known for her powerful and thought-provoking talks that inspire reflection, conversation and action. Her TEDx talk, which explores the relationship between language, identity and belonging, has resonated widely and continues to be used as a learning resource in educational and professional settings.
With years of experience as a performer, facilitator and educator, Shagufta offers workshops, keynotes and creative sessions that are rooted in storytelling, community and lived experience. Shagufta has collaborated with the V&A, Southbank Centre, CBBC, WOMAD Festival, Bristol Old Vic, and institutions across the UK for a wide range of audiences - working with workplaces, schools, universities, cultural organisations and community groups, creating spaces where people feel seen, heard and empowered.
Shagufta has experience in working in bi-lingual settings, with students aged 5 to 60 and has facilitated workshops with youth groups and community groups, and schools around the South West, teaching performance poetry to primary, secondary, state and independent school students. Shagufta has also worked with schools, universities, and youth groups in the Isle of Jersey, Northern Ireland, West Bank, Palestine, and Brussels.
